I was so very excited to see this staring back at me on the computer screen yesterday. The trail camera - purchased with a grant from the Veolia Environment Community Fund - has been set up in various locations around the field for quite some time, but up till this week, the most interesting thing it had snapped was a blurry wee wren.
While I've seen their poo (spraints) regularly on rocks and in the grass, I've never actually seen an otter by the river, probably because I'm lazy and don't get up early enough. So it was pretty thrilling to catch this glimpse with the infra red camera. It detects movement with its motion sensor so I'm going to set it up again in the same place using the movie function rather than the camera one, so hopefully next time, we'll have a film.
