The first signs of spring are here - frothy blackthorn blossom and sharp green larch spindles. The ash is budding too, a bit ahead of the oak (so we're in for a soak this summer, according to the old saying). I love those distinctive spring colours - a crystal clear blue sky against the washed out greys and browns of last year's foliage, with little hints of fresh growth poking out. Such a special time of year!
