Wild winter

I love this photo that my friend Valerie took of the trees by the river. It looks so wild and spooky!

Cormorants from a distance

When I was younger, the cormorants used to sit on this tree and stretch their wings while I watched them out the kitchen window, eating my breakfast. I was delighted to get this camera+bionculars shot of them back in their old spot the other morning. 

Update: Yesterday 1st December, I saw a flight of five cormorants heading upriver! No photo though, sadly.
